Assignment:
For this Assignment/Final you will be submitting a video of yourself of the first few steps in phlebotomy. When you begin MLT 412 & 413 , you will be required to perform a mock 26 point step venipuncture. This assignment will cover the first few steps , and prepare you for your next course in this program.
Mock patient ID and communication video instructions
- Submit a 1 min video or less of the steps provided in patient ID and communication
- Demonstrate competency by: demonstrating the procedure, sequential (in perfect
order), verbally - Successfully and properly demonstrate the 4 steps
- You may use anyone you choose for the video. Friends, family members, coworkers, co students etc. Make sure that this persons face is not visible during the video. Also, you must come up with a mock name and date birth. I.E. John Doe 5/15/1987
Below are the following procedure steps you must verbalize in your video submission.
1. Greet and identify the patient. Verbal. 15 points
2. Introduce yourself. Verbal 15 points
- Ensure lab tests are clearly marked on requisition. Verbal (use a blank paper and pretend you are looking over the drs orders, verbalize it) 15 points
4. Explain the procedure to the patient. Verbal 15 points
5. Finish the video by saying something like ” Ok lets get started “, or “Ok I am going to gather my supplies and we will begin”
