Ways to prevent hacking:
- Use strong passwords
- Don’t share your passwords with anyone
- Log out when using shared computers
- Keep your computer’s security updated
Safe Internet Rules:
- Keep personal information private
- Use strong passwords with:
- Letters (both uppercase and lowercase)
- Numbers
- Special characters
- Don’t download files without permission
- Never meet online friends in person
Remember This!
- Never give out personal information like:
- Your full name
- Address
- Phone number
- School name
- Passwords
- Trust your instincts – if something feels wrong, it probably is
Fun Activity: Spot the Scam!
Which of these is probably a scam?
- An email from your teacher about homework
- A message saying you won from a contest you never entered
- Your friend sharing a funny cat video
- A message saying you need to update your password right away or lose your account
(Answer: Numbers 2 and 4 are likely scams!)
Remember: Being safe online is just like being safe in real life – use common sense and always ask for help when you need it!
