{"id":15,"date":"2025-09-15T16:27:04","date_gmt":"2025-09-15T16:27:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vesl.us\/californiacnatestprep\/?page_id=15"},"modified":"2025-09-15T16:27:04","modified_gmt":"2025-09-15T16:27:04","slug":"cna-skill-03","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/vesl.us\/californiacnatestprep\/cna-skill-03\/","title":{"rendered":"CNA Skill 03"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SKILL 3: ASSISTS TO AMBULATE USING TRANSFER BELT<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Introduce yourself and explain the procedure to the patient.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide privacy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Perform hand hygiene.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Place nonskid footwear on the patient<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Adjust the bed to a safe level.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Check the brakes of the bed to ensure they are locked.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Allow the patient to sit and dangle on the edge of the bed before standing to ambulate<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ask the patient if they feel dizzy or light-headed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Properly place the gait belt around the patient&#8217;s waist and check the gait belt for tightness by slipping fingers between the gait belt and the patient.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Face the patient and place each of the feet in front of the patient&#8217;s feet to prevent them from slipping.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Instruct the patient to push up on the bed on the count of three to assist with standing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Count to three and assist the patient to a standing position.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Move to the weak side of the patient, slightly behind them.
