SKILL 2: APPLIES ONE KNEE-HIGH COMPRESSION STOCKING (TED HOSE)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

  1. Introduce yourself and explain the procedure to the patient.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Provide privacy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Perform hand hygiene.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Position the patient in the supine position. Expose only the leg the candidate will be placing the stocking on.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Gather supplies and turn the stocking inside out to the heel.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Place the stocking over the patient’s toes, foot, and heel.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  7. Gently pull the stocking up their leg.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  8. Moves foot and leg gently and naturally, avoiding force and over-extension of limb and joints.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  9. Adjust stocking; stocking should be wrinkle-free to the knee.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  10. Place the call light or signaling device within reach of the patient. Ensure the bed is low and locked.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
